This is an intensive five-week course intended for working professionals in the water service provision industry in low- and middle-income countries. The course is designed to build and strengthen participants' understanding of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and its role and application in the water service provision work in their communities and globally.

Requirements

Eligible candidates are working professionals engaged in water services provision in low- and middle- income settings. Eligible candidates will also need pre-approval from partner organization, Water for People Bolivia. MCGER will provide final enrollment approval.

Criteria

At the end of the course, learners will be able to: 

  1. Understand the water cycle and water management at the basin level, and explain principles of IWRM.
  2. Explain application of  IWRM principles at the basin level, and the role of technology in monitoring and management of water resources.
  3. Describe existing water resources assessment tools, their applications to IWRM and discuss lessons from current work.
  4. Explain impacts of climate change on water availability and management, and to describe existing strategies for adaptation and resilience.
  5. Describe social and economic aspects of IWRM, and discuss challenges and opportunities.
