Distance Education

The University of Colorado Boulder offers master's degrees, graduate certificates and individual graduate courses online in several disciplines.

Students may enroll in a single course, in a graduate certificate or in a full master's degree program at CU Boulder. Students applying for admission to a degree program may have the option to enroll in courses as non-degree students before being accepted, but not all programs allow for this. Please contact your program of interest to verify whether it allows non-degree enrollment prior to admission. For those students who can enroll in courses as a non-degree student, you should typically apply for admission before finishing a third course. Courses taken before admission are considered transfer credit. A maximum of nine hours of transfer credit will be accepted toward graduate degree requirements once a student is admitted into that program. With Graduate School and unit approval, a maximum of 24 hours can be transferred toward a graduate degree if the hours were part of a graduate certificate program and were taken as a CU Boulder non-degree student.

For more information, visit the Graduate School website or the CU Boulder Online website and contact the individual graduate program of interest directly.
