In recent years, there has been increased interest in the use of small uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS) for atmospheric science. These platforms and the sensors they carry have advanced to provide accurate, high-resolution measurements of atmospheric phenomena of interest across a wide range of environmental regimes, and in environments that are otherwise challenging, monotonous, expensive or dangerous to sample. Through this course, participants will become more familiar with UAS and will be able to consider how to use them in their own work.

Requirements
The requirements for receiving this micro-credential include completion of the Introduction to Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) for Atmospheric Science offered through the CIRES CEEE website, as well as completion of the short assessment questions for the five lessons. Participants must notify the CEEE team of completion of the assessments and desire to receive the micro-credential.
Criteria
Learners must demonstrate that they understand the UAS that CU has available; the capabilities, limitations and requirements for using UAS; the types of data that can be collected with UASs and how that data could be used; how UAS could be used in different research projects; and how to work with the MUSAS and IRISS groups at CU Boulder.
